Isaiah the Gray, Part 28 #TBTRPG

Continuing from the last Isaiah the Gray #TBTRPG chapter, as she senses Isaiah’s presence in the doorway to the Jedi Catalyst, Roshannon Darek spins around: “Who are you?”

Isaiah, calm, collected, directly answers: “I am Isaiah Gray. Are you Roshannon Darek?”

Roshannon stands still for a moment, staring at Isaiah. Inside, she is shocked that he can be standing there, amid the flood of Light Side Force Energy, so calm.

“Yes I am.” she responds “Why are you here?”

In lieu of words, Isaiah drops all barriers into his mind, allowing Roshannon to see the truth about him. She immediately pounces on the opportunity and a flood of imagery, from the destruction of Czerka Headquarters, to They, to the Sith Catalyst on Korriban, to meeting the Gray, to Corban, to learning about the ancient test of the Jedi, Sith, and Gray, to their chase here, to her, crashes through her mind, the sheer volume of Force energy nearly too much to bear.

Not trying to betray any weakness, Roshannon manages to blurt out: “What does all this mean?”

“I don’t know.” responds Isaiah “I’m trying to find out.”

“I don’t believe you.” sharply retorts Roshannon, her expression flashing to anger.

“Why not?” calmly responds Isaiah.

“I…I don’t want to.” answers Roshannon, too truthfully for her liking. “What do you want with me?”

“I need to access the Catalyst.” says Isaiah. “I need to understand the truth about this test and what, if any, my part to play in all this is. To put it simply, I want to be free from control. What is it you want with it?”

“None of your business!” she snaps, again becoming full of rage. Roshannon tries to sear pain into Isaiah’s mind through the Force but Isaiah is easily able to redirect the energy. Her frustration amplifying her rage, she puts her hands on the Catalyst, absorbing a massive amount of Force energy as Isaiah looks on, concerned.

Roshannon, now filled with much of the Catalyst’s power, stands and tries to sever Isaiah’s connection to the Force with her mind. Pouring all of her anger, anxiety, and fear into her attack, she nearly tears a hole in the Force itself within Isaiah’s mind. But even with the incredible power she possesses, Isaiah is still easily able to heal the wound in real time and again redirect the energy elsewhere.

“Stop, please.” says Isaiah, remaining calm. “There is no need for violence. We want the same thing! Stand down.”

Overcome by rage, disappointment, and most of all, fear, Roshannon fights within herself but cannot overcome her demons. Again, she lashes out with tremendous force at Isaiah who, this time, simply absorbs all of the energy. Completely spent, she collapses to the ground, unconscious. And there the last of her life force is absorbed by the Catalyst as Isaiah watches on as she dies, disappointed in her reaction.

A few moments pass before Isaiah walks over to the Catalyst, the voices of Jedi spirits coursing through his mind, their words unintelligible. Isaiah puts tremendous focus on trying to understand what they’re saying but the words don’t resolve themselves. Confused, Isaiah stands for a moment, reflecting on his situation.

Isaiah decides to instead let the voices play out as if he’s simply listening to a track of music. And slowly, he begins to understand: “Welcome, Isaiah, to the Light. Come join us.”
