5 Things to Know Before Getting Started With Your First Tabletop Role-playing Game – Part 2

You Don’t Need To Play A Role

And this actually goes against the name of a tabletop role-playing game. In actuality, you don’t even need to play a role. As a matter of fact, for your first game, it actually may even come more natural for you to play yourself. In other words, in whatever story you’re playing, or maybe even it’s a story where, you know, you’re just sitting in your house wherever you are and that’s where it happens to begin, you can actually be yourself. You don’t have to be anyone else.

You don’t have to say lines like a Shakespearean actor, an improv comedian might. You can really start off if you feel like it, just being comfortable in your own skin and then using that as a launching off point for bigger and better things. Or if that’s all you wanna do, that’s perfectly fine too. This art form is for you just as much as it is for everybody else.
